I can't believe Myelle is already hitting the 4 week mark. She has changed so much just in the past week and a ton since we left the hospital. She has filled out quite a bit, especially in the face and belly. We are guessing she has passed the 8 pound mark by now but haven't weighed her since she was 11 days old.
She seems to have figured out her days and nights now. During the day she usually eats quite often - sometime every hour and other times she will go about 3 hours between feedings. At night she typically goes 3-4 hours between feedings but we have seen a couple of 5-6 hour stretches as well.
She is a noisy baby in terms of grunting and making little noises. We never had her in our room at night but if we had, I think she would have been kicked out very quickly. She's pretty gassy so usually she is grunting around because of that (and she lets out some good ones that you would not believe came from a person of her size). She spits up a lot more than Kyler did so we always have to have a burp cloth or two around.
She has rolled over front to back three times now. She likes to sleep on her tummy but isn't a fan of lying that way while she's awake. We only let her sleep on her tummy for naps and put her on her back at night when we aren't around to check on her.
In the past couple of days she has been very alert and is becoming more and more social. She is awake quite a bit during the day, usually from around 11 in the morning until 11 at night with several short naps and one long nap throughout the day. Myelle likes to be around people and gets upset if she's not in the same room as everyone else. She looks around a lot and we think she's starting to see more and more.
Kyler is really starting to figure her out too. When she starts getting upset he will go up to her and ask what's wrong. He is very very gentle with her and will give her a pacifier or gently rock her in her bouncer seat and shush her to calm her down. If she continues to be upset, he will come to me and tell me she wants out of whatever she is lying in. Over the holidays I was holding my cousin's baby and he was very concerned about where his sister was, telling me that's not Myelle (he says her name more like Nyelle). He is already a concerned and protective big brother and we really couldn't ask more of him in that regard.
We hate to see Myelle grow so quickly but at the same time we are ready for her to be a couple months older and start doing a little more. Somehow we fall more and more in love with her each day.
