I got the mail today and saw a bill from the fertility doctor. It was for $1,500! Which is a lot because we were not planning on getting one at all and we're a little strapped for cash at the moment with all the home renovations, appliance purchases, down payment on the house, and we're planning to owe quite a bit in taxes this year. I immediately thought my infertility benefits had run out and was seriously freaking out. I tried calling the insurance company but of course they aren't open on a Sunday. So I logged onto their website and pulled up my claims. It had looked like several of the same charges were showing up as being paid for by insurance. Finally, upon closer inspection of the bill I received my portion was only $20. I think I was supposed to pay my copay when I was there for the IUI but with all the commotion in my room they forgot to give me my check-out sheet. That was quite a scare, and then quite a relief.
While I was on my insurance website I looked at my claim history. I'm pretty sure the insurance company hates me. I have had almost $30k in medical bills since after Kyler was born. $20k was for my miscarriage between all the ultrasounds and the D&C which was done under ultrasound. I am so thankful that I have this awesome insurance because there would be almost no hope for another child without it.
