Treatment Plan for Cycle 6

Okay, I'm getting a little nervous about changing things up. The Metformin, Letrozole, Ovidrel, and IUI are old hat for me at this point but adding the FSH injections is completely new.

So here's the plan. I am continuing to take the Metformin/prenatal/low dose aspirin daily. I will go in on Cycle Day (CD) 1 which is when my period starts. They will do a baseline ultrasound to make sure I don't have any cysts on my ovaries (cysts + injectables = bad). Then on CD 3 I will start my Letrozole same as always - 2 pills, 2.5 mg each, days 3-5. On CD 5 I will add the injection to the mix. It is an FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone) injection and I will be taking 75 units every other day. On CD 9 or 10, I will go in for another ultrasound to see how things are progressing. As soon as the follies (eggs) are big enough, I will do my Ovidrel injection just like usual and do the IUI procedure 2 days later.

Lots of running back and forth to Kansas City over this time. Plus we will be moving this weekend and next (so more trips) and I am supposed to go to Wichita at the end of the following week to a client (which could get derailed by the fertility appointments).

I am nervous about having to give myself more injections. But that I can deal with. My biggest concern is the medication working too well. If I produce too many follicles they won't let us try to get pregnant at all. I'm not sure what they will do if there are maybe 2 on one side - they may let us try and risk it which would be pretty scary. But if women can have 3-8 babies in one normal uterus surely a half-uterus could handle 2, right? Hopefully it is one in each side and we have a chance in each of them! It will be interesting to see how my body reacts to this new drug... hopefully it does react.

All in all, excited to move on to something new but nervous at the same time.

Sounds like a plan. The shots are a piece of cake. Can't really even feel them! I hope this new protocol works!!
