A LONG IUI

I was in the stirrups for about an hour this morning. With three different people digging around in there. It was pretty unpleasant and I'm definitely still feeling it now. After it was over I wanted to yell out to God, "Have I met you halfway yet???" It sure felt like it.

They were having a very difficult time finding my right cervix. The first two people looked and looked for probably 45 minutes with no luck. When the third person came in, I welcomed her to the party. She basically tortured me for 15 minutes but got it done. I told her that if it worked I would be coming in to give her a big hug. It felt like the most intense cramps you could ever have for a solid 15 minutes, plus some additional poking, pulling, and prodding. I thanked them all and told them I understood. It is still pretty crampy and sore, basically feels like my insides are bruised. And they probably are.

On a good note, we had one of the best specimens on record there. The first nurse told me that every patient there would love to have those numbers. The next one looked at me and said "wow, that's a lot..." So at least one of us is a super star when it comes to being fertile. It's probably a good thing I have some problems or we would be the next couple to have 19 kids and counting.

Overall despite all the negativity associated with all the pain today, I am feeling pretty good about this one. Two mature follicles plus super sperm has to equal a baby, right?
