My Sheltered Baby

We were pretty care-free with Kyler when he was a newborn. We went to my brother's graduation party 2 hours away the day after we got out of the hospital and hit a couple of weddings that were several hours away in his first month. But this baby is going to be a lot more sheltered than that. It will be RSV season and with the whooping cough outbreaks reported around the state this year, I am not willing to take any chances. It seems sort of funny though when I think about how relaxed we were with our first-born but we are going to be way more on edge when it comes to getting germy and sick with this baby. It might be months before he or she makes it out of Seneca once we get home from the hospital.

It will be strange to have a winter newborn since Kyler was born right before summer started. When he got upset we were able to take him outside to calm him down. I don't think that's going to be happening this time around. And I am fearing that this baby is going to be a rude awakening vs. how good of a baby Kyler was. We will have to get the car seat completely covered and bundled every time we leave the house. By the time it was that cold, we were able to put a coat and hat on Kyler to get him in and out of the car without freezing. He never had a winter suit or anything like that. Maybe these differences will help me remember which baby was which years down the road.

There are a few things I want to have done before we go have the baby. The main last minute thing is getting a Christmas tree up. Last year we didn't have one because we had just moved but it just didn't seem right not to have one. We also need to finish our Christmas gift for the kiddos - a DIY play kitchen that has been sitting around waiting to be worked on since last summer.

Brett got the blinds up in the nursery last night and the ceiling fan up not long ago, so now all we have left is to put a shelf/rack up in the closet and the baby room is done and just waiting for December for our little one to come home. Brett is absolutely positive it is a girl but I am still thinking boy. It will be interesting to see what happens. And nothing new on the name front... that's one big thing left on the to do list. Almost as big as my belly which is getting huge. I hope the summer weather ends soon just so I can move onto my bigger but long sleeved maternity clothes. The shirts I'm wearing now are getting too short and my shorts are getting too tight. I have to change into my grubby pajama shorts while working or the baby kicks the heck out of me due to getting squished by the elastic bands on my pants. I'm pretty sure I am the size (or very close to the size) I was when I went in to give birth to Kyler. Yikes!

Ok. I saw a CUTE tutorial on (you guessed it...) Pinterest! It's for these great carseat blankies. Do you sew? Or does your mom or one of your aunts? It looks super easy. I definitely would have had my mom make one if I'd seen it before Eva was born. :) Maybe it'd help with the carseat bundling issues!

Holy cuteness, that baby is adorable. Maybe it's the hood. That does seem really easy. I have been wanting to take up sewing but my mom is pretty decent at easy stuff like this. I might have to give it a whirl. Thanks!
