On our way to the hospital Myelle had stopped crying. I didn't know if it was because she wore herself out or was in shock or if the pain was so extreme it had subsided or if she was okay. So I took her into the hospital and showed the nurses her foot. They looked pretty shocked and took us to the emergency room. By the time Brett and Kyler arrived with my phone, the swelling had gone down to about half of what it was. It still looked pretty bad. I snapped a couple of pictures after her x-ray. It definitely looked funkier in real life.
The x-rays did not show a break and her activity today pretty well confirms that. Her foot is very swollen and a little bruised so I'm sure it will be tender for at least the weekend. She did so good at the hospital for the most part (when nobody was tinkering with her). She sat on the bed jabbering away and playing with some stickers they gave her. She also got a little stuffed bunny to help her though her hospital visit. I am sure the doctor wondered why he got called in when he walked in to see her happy as can be sitting there. He may have understood when he started messing with her toes and hearing her scream.
While Kyler was at the hospital running around, Myelle was screaming to be let down so she could play. Of course, when I eased her down and she put some weight on her foot she screamed some more. I was fearful that we might have a long weekend (or longer if there was a break). By the time we were discharged and got home, she was walking gingerly around the living room. Each time she put weight on that foot she would look up at me with a sad face and say "uh oh!" We eventually gave her some Tylenol and put her to bed. She slept all night and we were again worried that her foot would hurt even more when she got up. In the morning her foot was still pretty swollen. She wanted down and walked right down the hallway. She kept looking at her foot as if she was wondering why it felt funny but didn't cry or stop walking around. Brett and I thought it looked really painful and neither of us would have been walking around like normal. She is a tough girl with a high pain tolerance.
We are so fortunate that it was just a small table that fell over. We had been talking and trying to come up with a plan for anchoring the dressers to the walls since Myelle is such an active toddler and quite a risk taker. We are also happy that there was not a break as that would have really been hard for Myelle with how busy she always is walking around. Hopefully the ER visit doesn't cost as much as we are fearing, we're not exactly sure what the insurance coverage is on accidents like this. It was an eventful night but we are truly blessed that this is the only hospital visit for our our kids after they were born.

Oh no, glad she's ok! Hopes she's fully recoved soon. Yes, that swollen foot would have freaked me out too!
Poor little thing. Glad it wasn't worse than it was.
