13 (and a half) Months

With the holidays, time has just slipped away from me. I am a little behind on Myelle's 13 month update. There haven't been a whole lot of changes since she turned one, but here is a glimpse into our little lady's life at this point.

We got a ton of snow in December so Myelle was able to play in it for the first time. She LOVED it. She is constantly wanting to go outside, no matter the temperature. She cries (more like throws a huge fit) every time we come inside or get in the car.

The biggest news is that Myelle has been weaned of the pacifier. She was getting super attached to it and had it a lot over Christmas. She was waking up several times at night needing us to give it back to her. So I decided it would be worth it to get rid of it if she started sleeping through the night. The first several days she had a little trouble transitioning to sleep after her bottle was gone, but she now goes right to bed after a bottle without even a peep.

She is pretty interested in books. She's not very careful, so we have to keep the paper books put up and just leave her with board books. She "reads" them. We will find her sitting on the floor of her room or in her new chair jabbering away while she flips through the pages of a book.

She loves to climb, run, "jump," and do about anything physical she can think of. Myelle loves to challenge herself. Right now her challenges are walking down ramps (and she tried the slides at the park while making me very nervous) and walking on the lumber in the basement. She loves balls and "ball ball" is probably her most frequently spoken word right now. Since Brett has been finishing the basement, we have spent a lot of time down there mostly playing ball and balancing on the 2x4s.

Myelle is down to one nap each day most of the time. She goes to bed around 8:00 at night and wakes up around 8:00 in the morning, sometimes even a little later. She still has only four teeth but is working on some more.

We also got the potty chair out for her to start warming up to. She had started bringing me diapers when she was wet or dirty and seems to be holding her pee (she is dry and then suddenly super wet and sometimes stays dry overnight). Our fingers are crossed that she will potty train early but we now know from experience that she'll be ready on her terms so we aren't pushing the issue.

This little girl just won't stop growing. She can have the cutest personality (and sometimes not so cute). She is stubborn and throws major fits when she doesn't get her way. She has no fear, and unfortunately that means punishments don't phase her. So it's a good thing she's cute, because she is and probably will continue to be a big handful!

I also love that snow pic. So cute! She's a doll. And I do not usually say things like that.
