Somehow, Myelle is 6 months old. Time went sort of slow at the beginning when we were struggling with her reflux and whatever other issues she was having. Now that she is happier and does so much more, time is flying by.
She is a chubby little thing. She's got some adorable rolls on her thighs and her cheeks are plenty big to hide things from me (like pieces of the newspaper she loves to tear into). We had her checkup on Monday and she weighs 16 pounds (50-75th percentile) and is 25 inches tall (25th percentile). I had the doctor look at her head because there is a little line around the middle of her head. I thought and hoped it was just where she somehow didn't have any hair there and the doctor confirmed that. I'm not sure if she rubs her head back and forth at night or what but it does look a little odd. Hopefully she grows some more hair soon so it's not noticable anymore (and so she's not a little baldy).
Myelle is a big eater. She started taking bottles this week when I went back to work and she is eating a lot! Grandma is having to limit her a little just so this mama can keep up with her demand. One day she ate about 18 ounces just while I was at work. We are trying to get her down to 13-14 ounces which should work out okay. She eats baby cereal and homemade baby food as well as other finger foods (crackers, cheerios, etc.). She loves to be a big girl and drink water from a sippy cup too.
She sits pretty well. We still keep a pillow behind her because she falls back (many times on purpose to look behind her or just be goofy). She has yet to roll back to front, probably because she is sitting upright all the time, whether it be on the floor, in a high chair, in the stroller, walker, or jumper. She babbles all the time. A lot of time it's when there are other conversations going on and she tries to yell over our voices. It's cute but can also get in the way of relaying information to someone at times. She also loves to splash in the tub and is learning how to make things work... especially if it's something that makes noise like banging, pushing buttons, or shaking rattles.
She has become a pretty good baby overall. She's happy pretty much all the time unless she has a dirty diaper or gets tired. Getting her to sleep is the biggest struggle right now but hopefully she will soon learn how to relax and put herself to sleep at naptime. She's not a cuddler so she isn't a huge fan of rocking. A lot of times I just have to lay her in her crib and pat or rub her until she stops fighting sleep. She loves to hold an extra pacifier or small toy or just look at her hands while she lies on her side and falls asleep. She's taking 2-3 naps per day and is waking up an average of 3 times per night. I have stopped feeding her every time she's up at night since the doctor said she really doesn't need that nutrition, it's just something she's gotten used to.
She's become quite the little cutie. We can't wait to see her little personality continue to develop!
