Beach Vacation

We took a vacation to the beach last week. My parents have a condo in Gulf Shores, Alabama that they rent out and they invited us for a pre-summer vacation. It is around a 16 hour drive so we opted to fly with the kids. We were very nervous about how our little stinker would do on the plane. She shocked us and was great. In fact, she sort of loved it.
We had three seats in a row, so when the seatbelt sign was off, it was like spending a few hours on big couch. Myelle just sat and played happily for part of the flight.

At one point Brett looked over to all of us sleeping. That doesn't even happen at home, so I call this a huge success!

At breakfast time, Myelle got very envious of our toast so we gave her a piece. She didn't let it go, and didn't even need to use her hands to hang onto it.

She wasn't a huge fan of the beach. It was so bright and pretty windy and the waves crashing up seemed to scare her a little. She would scream when we put her toes in the wet sand or water.

One afternoon we took a walk to the area where they were holding the Hangout music festival. We had dinner and drinks before heading back to the condo.

On Kyler's birthday, we had dinner at a place called Lulu's. They had a huge area where kids could play in the sand.

Then when we got back home, we celebrated with a DQ cake. Myelle was so excited about the candles.

On our last day, Myelle did pretty good on the beach. I was just hoping to snap a family photo and figured I would be right back in the condo.

She still didn't really love the water.

But she actually had a good time sitting on the beach under the shade of an umbrella.

Although vacations are much less relaxing with little ones, we had a great time and brought back lots of good memories and photos.

Looks like a blast! :) The kids are growing so quickly... Can't believe Kyler is already 3 and Myelle looks like a good little traveler - how fun!
