4 Months

Myelle turned 4 months old this week. She continues to grow like a weed. She is really stretching all of her 3 month clothes so I think it's about time to dig out the next batch. The weather needs to hurry and warm up though because most of them are summer clothes. She has also grown out of the size 1 diapers  (although she is still wearing them until we run out).

The past couple of days she has been acting/feeling much better so I hope we have gotten past her major issues. I think the reflux medicine is really helping. She still spits up quite a bit but not as often as before. And she is a much happier baby now. She can sit and play for quite a while without getting upset and has been taking longer naps in her swing this week. She hasn't had any of the screaming fits for a while now and I have been adding back some of the dairy/chocolate/caffeine that I had stopped eating. So far, so good.

Enjoying her new jumper... she's a little short for it so we had to improvise.

Her checkup at the doctor is on Monday. I'm sure she has gained a decent amount in weight and height. She sure seems like a big baby when I pick her up out of her crib at night. She has been waking up much more often at night to eat but still goes right back to sleep when she's done. I think it's time to start some solids because the milk is only keeping her happy for about 2 hours at a time. My only fear is that she might have some trouble digesting it but we will hope for the best and see what happens.

We spent Good Friday at the Wichita zoo. You could say our hands were full. It was a great day and Myelle was perfect the whole time we were there. She loves being outside and in the stroller!

Socially, she has been really smiley lately. She is definitely ticklish and laughs when I walk my fingers up her tummy to her neck. She loves being talked to and played with. Kyler and our dog, Baxter, are her favorite sources of entertainment. Yo Gabba Gabba is still popular with her too. She "talks" quite a bit still and it's pretty entertaining for her audience. She wrinkles up her eyebrows like she is really telling a serious story and holds one fist out in front of her face. It really makes you wonder what she is trying to tell us.

Dada said he really enjoyed holding Myelle as she slept through the second part of the Easter church service. It was a nice change from when he usually gets handed a screaming baby.

Myelle has yet to roll back to front although I'm sure she could if she wanted to. She gets all the way to the side but doesn't quite kick herself over. She rolls front to back with ease though. She does really well lying on her tummy for a while, holding her head up pretty high with her mini-pushup. She loves being upright the most. She isn't too bad at balancing herself in a sitting position with just a little help. Hopefully in the next month she will be pretty stable on her own with just the boppy pillow around her. She's also got some strong legs and supports her own weight standing for a long time for someone her age. We just have to help her balance. She likes her play mat, walker, and jumper the best. She is fairly content in her high chair and bouncer at times. And she is back to enjoying her swing at nap time (I thought we were done with that before this week).

She loves to be upright so we have been practicing sitting with the boppy pillow.

We have been getting the kids to bed around 9:00 lately. Myelle usually wakes up a few times in the first hour and just needs her pacifier or a little bouncing of her mattress to get back to sleep. Then she wakes up about every 2-ish hours to eat. She goes right back to bed after eating which is nice. She wakes up anywhere between 7:00 and 8:30 and goes back down for a nap about an hour an a half later. This can last 45 minutes or 3 hours - she is unpredictable. Then she usually takes one other good nap in the afternoon around 2:00. Depending on how late she sleeps she may need a small cat nap in the evening or will go to bed a little earlier than usual.

Myelle was having some skin issues with an eczema-like rash but that has mostly cleared up now that we switched her to Aveeno baby products and stopped using dryer sheets in her laundry. She is more fair skinned than her brother but we'll have to see how she does in the summer. Her eyes also seem to be changing color but we can't tell for sure what color they will be.

This is her first serving of cereal. She loved it and opened up for each bite... but as you can see she didn't quite understand what to do with the food once it was in her mouth.

We're hopeful that she stays as content as she has the past few days. Maybe by next month we can take her off the reflux medicine too. She enjoys being outside so I think this will be a fun spring/summer. We're looking forward to consistent warmer weather.
