Potty Training

Lately, we have had potty training going on around our house. Right before Myelle had her adenoids out and tubes in, she was doing really well for about a week. She was having some accidents but staying dry for the most part. Then she got the stomach flu and had bad diarrhea so I had to put diapers on her, and then the surgery and I was gone on vacation the following week so we kept the diapers going a little longer. When all that was over with, she was not responding well to going on the potty chair again.

One week I finally had enough and decided to give her a little tough love. It seemed to be working, although not always fun. We had been rewarding her with a couple of jelly beans for going potty and anything and everything for poop. If she refused to go, she got a diaper put on and put down for a "nap like a baby." If she blatantly goes in her pants, she got punished (spanked or whatever). She seemed to be resisting wearing underwear so I bought some pull-ups (even though I said I never would) hoping that would be a good transition between diapers and underwear. Eventually, this worked and she is now fully potty trained. She's even staying dry at night. This picture was taken after daycare one day. She got one sucker for good behavior and one for keeping her pants dry all day -- she had both opened before we pulled in the driveway.
