11 Months

I almost had tears in my eyes when I woke up yesterday and knew it was only one month until Myelle's birthday. Those first several months were painful but now time is just going by too quickly.

The biggest change in her 10th month was that she has started taking steps. We keep saying that any day she is going to change from primarily crawling to walking. That hasn't quite happened yet, but we are getting closer every day. Yesterday we even bought her some new shoes for walking and she loves them. I think they have helped her with her stability a little while walking. She took probably 10 steps in a row last night. She gets SO excited when she takes some steps and really thinks she is big stuff.

Myelle is also continuing to climb and is just a little dare devil. She isn't afraid of anything so that's a little scary. Luckily she can only climb so high for now so the falls are short. The most daring thing is that she pushes a ride-on toy up to the TV stand, stands up on the seat of it, and reaches for the TV. I'm not sure how it hasn't rolled from under her, but so far she hasn't had any major crashes or marks on her face.

Still just two teeth. There are a couple more working their way through but taking forever. She's eating pretty well, it has slowed down a little lately though. Her favorite things are meat and fruit (and sweets of course). She even got into the Halloween candy and somehow opened a sucker without us realizing it right away. Yummy! I thought Kyler would be the first to take Halloween candy without asking, but I should have known better. She also knows how to drink from a straw and does very well drinking from an open-faced cup. She is starting to get silverware figured out but hasn't completely gotten there yet.

Her clothing and diaper sizes are about the same - mostly 18 month clothes (some 12 scattered in there too) and size 3 diapers. Her first "real" shoes are size 4, just a little too big. The size 2 infant shoes are extremely tight on her now.

Myelle is continuing to say more and more. Her most common phrase is "uh oh spaghettio." The spaghettio part takes on a new sound every time but sometimes she gets it extremely close. She has started pointing to pictures in books wanting us to say what she is pointing at. She's learned the sound a cat makes - her version is "owww" and she will keep saying it forever. She has started saying "all done" and doing the sign for it. And when you tell her "thank you" she replies with her version of "you're welcome." She also puts her hands up for "touch down" - a very important one in this football-loving family!

Napping has actually gotten worse if that's possible. She is pretty difficult to get to sleep and usually doesn't take a very long nap. Once in a while we get lucky though. And as long as she's being rocked with her bottle or paci, she doesn't get too upset about relaxing. The hardest part is keeping her brother out of the room and quiet on his own. She sleeps well at night but has a hard time going back down if she gets up after 5 or so in the morning (even though she really needs that sleep in is still very tired).

We're excited to celebrate her big day next month and the holidays will be a lot of fun this year with Myelle.

Aw. It goes so fast, especially with the second one it seems. I love the months surrounding the first birthday. They are learning so much so quickly. It's just amazing to watch it happen before your eyes. She's sounds like a smart little daredevil. Scary combination :)
