Just an Idea

Have you ever heard anyone say that someone was "just an idea," meaning they had yet to be born? Well, right now our second child is just that... "an idea." So just how did this idea come about?

Brett has always said that we should have two children. For whatever reason, he thinks two is the perfect number. I am indifferent. I could have as few or many kids as he wants. So two it is. Well, that's the plan right now anyway. We all know how plans change but I'm pretty sure that it will just be two kiddos for us.

The day after we got out of the hospital with Kyler, Brett was already talking about having another baby. That was a little too soon for me. You know, since we just got out of the hospital. But over the last month I have been thinking that he is right. We should have our second baby right away.

I'm sure you are wondering why right away? And if we are crazy? Well, I tend to think not. Everyone who knows us knows that we are always on the go and wanting to go places and do things. While we are not afraid to take Kyler with us most places, it is a challenge and limits what we can do. We would not trade him for anything but that's just what it means to have a kid, and especially when that kid is a baby. So to limit the number of years we have a baby, it seems best to get all that out of the way at once. Then we can go on and live our lives as a family - going on vacations, boating, sporting events, road trips, plane trips, you name it.

The other reason for the "hurry up offense" on having a second baby is because we are going to have to seek fertility treatment again. And the health insurance that my work provides includes infertility benefits. So before I quit my job to move to Seneca and stay home full-time with Kyler, we want to take advantage of those benefits since it is otherwise a very expensive process. We have a meeting with our fertility doctor in the middle of October so that we can discuss the game plan and get things decided and set in motion.

So one of these days this "idea" (which is so much more to us than an idea) will be a little person, a little brother or sister to Kyler. We just have to wait and see when that will be.
